What we do

Three programmes, one goal

We work in the 41 schools with the highest free-school-meal eligibility in the city, and only where the head teacher invites us.

  • Breakfast clubs

A hot breakfast, every school day, for any child who wants one. No means test, no forms, no stigma.

  • After-school learning

Homework help, reading and a snack from 3 to 5:30 pm, run by trained volunteers alongside school staff.

  • Holiday hubs

Food, activities and trips through every school holiday, when the gap between children is widest.

Stories

Why it matters

Before the breakfast club, my son was falling asleep in lessons. Now he's the first one through the school gate. I'm working two jobs and I can't tell you what it means to know he's eaten.

Parent, Southmead

  • “Attendance is up, behaviour incidents before lunch are down by half. It's the cheapest intervention we've ever had.”

    Ms Farooq · Head teacher

  • “I volunteer Tuesdays. Two hours. It's the best part of my week.”

    Greg · Volunteer since 2020

  • “I used to go to the after-school club. Now I help run one.”

    Tayo, 17 · Youth volunteer
